No headstone was recorded in the last reading of 1980-81. A few census records suggest that Sam was born in another county and raised in Douglas since his parents do not appear in the 1860 US Census for Douglas. His father likely died during or just after the end of the Civil War. His mother then married George W. Ziegler in 1868 in Christian Co, MO. George moved to Boone Co, Ark near or at Omaha after 1872. Sam married Dora Sims about 1883 in Missouri. The location was given in the WWI Draft Registration of the eldest son, Henry Adams. Sam and Dora moved to Boone Co, Ark by 1900. In 1911, Sam purchased property in Washington Co; by 1920 they had moved briefly to Springfield, MO. They returned to south Fayetteville at Fayette Junction by 1922, according to Washington Co land records. Two of his daughters were present in Fayetteville by 1914-15, evidenced by their marriages in Washington Co. Sam's wife, Dora Adams, died in 1924 at Fayette Junction; and later, Sam moved to the Baldwin area east of Fayetteville. Three daughters preceded Sam in death. They were Alta (an invalid) 31 Aug 1924; Laura Adams Tackett Pickens 30 Oct 1939, due to an auto accident near her home at San Angelo, Texas (she was divorced from Robert Tackett about 1935); and Elsie Adams Millsap on 27 Aug 1941 at a Little Rock Hospital.
