Table Rock Argus, Apr. 30, 1908.

In the death of Ithmar B. Howard which took place at the farm of Frank Howard occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vance, at 9 o'clock a.m., Friday April 17th, 1908, Pawnee county loses one of the oldest citizens, and the community a pioneer of the sixties. Mr. Howard's health has been fast failing of late, and while he had not been confined to his bed, he has not recognized even his relation for some weeks. While his death is not a surprise it was a great shock to the family and friends. Mr. Howard was born at Hartford, Vermont, August 13, 1816 making him 91 years, 8 months and 4 days of age at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Mary Gibbs November 29th, 1844 at Woodstock, Vermont, and to them were born seven children, three of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. Elvida Furrow, El Paso, Texas, Charles Howard of Oregon, and Frank Howard, of Pawnee City. Mr. Howard moved to Nebraska in 1868, taking a homestead of 160 acres four miles northeast of Pawnee City on which he resided until the death of his wife October 23, since which time he has made his home with his son, Frank. For the past twelve or fifteen years the deceased has been a member of the Christian church of this city, and the obsequies were conducted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard in Pawnee City at 2:30 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, April 19th, interment being at the Pawnee City cemetery.

NOTE; A family member I met at the cemetery one day said there had been a homemade monument that was very unique at his grave site. Unfortunately nothing is there now, I wish there was a picture of it to share here.
