Hugene Babb, age 86, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born in 1925 in Lafayette County, MS to the late Hugh and Ada Henderson Babb. Hugene served in the United States Navy during WWII and the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a farmer and an avid Ole Miss fan. Hugene was a member of the DAV, the VFW and Paris Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching sports and talking on the phone with his friends. He was especially fond of discussing current events and debating politics. He loved his family, grandchildren and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Paris Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Sockwell and Bro. Dereck Starnes officiating. Burial will be in the Paris Cemetery in Lafayette, MS with Jody Black, Kevin Black, Brennan Black, Ricky Black, David Black, Keith Black and Lee Miller serving as pallbearers.

Hugene is survived by his wife of 40 years, Erma Lou Babb of Paris, MS; one daughter, Marsha Moore (Mark) of Scottsdale, AZ; three step-sons, Ricky Black (Barbara) of Oxford, MS, David Black (Sherry) of AR and Keith Black (Regina) of Oxford, MS; two grandsons, Daniel Miller and David Moore and several step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Miller and his brother, Toy Dean Babb.
