Last Rites Held for John Bos. Funeral services for John Bos, 75, who died at a nursing home here Thursday, (16 Jan 1964), were held Monday, 20 Jan 1964, afternoon at the Barnard Funeral home with Rev. John J. Wiegers officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery, Hawarden, Sioux County, Iowa. Hal Shoemaker was the vocalist, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Shoemaker. Casket bearers were James Krud, Louis Holtrop, Neal Vander Lugt, John Louwerse, Dick Vander Lugt and Neal Schouten. Mr. Bos was born December 12, 1888, in Holland. He came to the United States at the age of 20. He spent one year in Chicago, then moved to the Hawarden vicinity, where he farmed. Survivors include the widow; 10 children: Ralph, Wilbur, Henry and Clarence all of Hawarden; Richard of Artesia, CA.; John of Yankton, SD; Andy of Dell Rapids, SD; Mrs. Adrian (Jenette) Van Lier of Dell Rapids; Mrs. Paul (Margret) Warrens of Everett, WA; and Mrs. Vernon (Elsie) Waterbury of Utica, SD. One sister, Mrs. Dick Ross of Grant's Pass, WA. and 17 grandchildren.
