Donald Ray Webster

Don Ray Webster, affectionately known to many as "Honey", our brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away at his home in Cedar City, Utah, on December 7, 2011.

He was the second son born to Nelson and Helen Pace Webster on September 27, 1929, in Cedar City, Ut. Don joined the army when he was 18 years old and served honorably for four years. He was "frozen in" after his regular service time commitment of three years and served the fourth year in Alaska. He returned home to live after his discharge from the army and went to work for Webster Coal Mine for a short period of time. He then journeyed to southern California, making it his home, where he lived and was employed by Owens Illinois Glass Company for more than thirty years. He retired from a management position in 1985. His home in Long Beach was not far from the Ocean and he enjoyed boating and waterskiing with his friends, which they did regularly. He always had a beautiful, shiny car and he loved to drive. He spent many hours behind the wheel of a car, traveling and seeing the country.

After his retirement Don moved home and was happy buying, fixing up and selling houses. One of his favorite pastimes was driving around the valley in one of his vehicles. He spent many hours checking out every new construction project that was going on anywhere in the county. He spent every day he could on the mountain that he dearly loved, running his cat, knocking over dead trees, making roads and ponds. He loved animals and seemed to have a special communication system with them. He had a regular route with the grocery stores where he would gather the out of date fruits and vegetables and take it to feed his deer and animals on the mountain.



We will miss his infectious smile and the twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Helen Webster. He is survived by three brothers and one sister, Pace (Lucy) of St. George, J.N. (Sharon), Jolene Goff (Jerry), and Sandy (Vicki) all of Cedar City, plus many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to Lee Ann Gentry, Sue Moyes, and the nurses at Iron Co. Home Health Care Agency, for their loving and tender care of Don.

Funeral Service will be held Monday December 12, 2011, at Southern Utah Mortuary. Friends may call from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Monday, prior to the service. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the dirction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
