NORTON - Charlie Edgar Absher, 73, died Monday, Jan. 2, 1989, in St. Mary's Hospital.
He was a retired miner, formerly employed by the Horton Coal Co.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Absher, Loring AFB, Maine, Dwayne Absher, Dunbar, Va., and Lewis Absher of Maine; six daughters, Nancy Mays, Sharon Ingle, both of Norton, Mary Lawson and Dianne Absher, both of Big Stone Gap, Gladys Absher, Wise, and Rhonda Absher of Oregon; one brother, Elmer Absher, Norton; one sister, Ruby Statzer, Norton; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise is in charge.


ABSHER - Funeral services for Charlie Edgar Absher will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Wise, Va., with the Rev. Gary Maggard officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sturgill Funeral Home.
