Myrt passed away on August 30, 2010. She was born in Clayton, Kansas to John and Molly Hughes. She and her husband left Kansas during the dirt storms in 1937 and started a new life together. They built a home in Spokane Valley in 1946 where they resided for 64 years.

Myrt enjoyed a long career at Edgecliff Sanitorium before retiring in 1967. She was a devoted mother and friend to many. Myrt loved cooking and entertaining for her large extended family and friends and made the best home baked bread in the county. Myrt was a loving, generous mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting and made beautiful afghans for all her children and grandchildren.

The family would like to express their thanks to the compassionate, dedicated care Myrt received from all at Good Samaritan nursing home, where she resided the last two years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her siblings, Allan Hughes, Ruth VanSickler, Francis Hughes, Norma Pipkin, John Hughes and Marvin Hughes.
