ALLWARDT, Victor Lehnert, aged 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Lancaster on January 2, 2010, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. A 55 year resident of Antelope Valley, he worked as a flight test engineer for General Dynamics at Edwards Air Force Base, retiring in 1985, after 41 years of service to the company. In retirement Victor traveled and pursued his interest in topical stamp collecting, among other hobbies. Twice widowed, he confronted his illness with courage, grace, and humor. Victor is survived by his son, Alan Allwardt, daughter- in-law, Jane Reid, and grandson, Parker Allwardt, of Santa Cruz, California. He is also survived by three step-children, Patricia Fenton, David Riker, and Elizabeth Crompton, and four step-grandchildren, Shane Karlin, Chad Fenton, Jennifer Garcia, and Jordan Riker. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster. (Antelope Valley Press)
