ALLISON, Irving 'Don' W. Jan. 30, 1928 ~ Nov. 21, 2011 Born in Bovina Center, New York. Passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Lancaster where he lived for 49 years. Don is survived by his sons, Allan, Deming and Mark, his brother Bob of New York., along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irving Allison Better known to his friends and family as "Don" was born on January 28th 1928 in the small town of Bovina Center, New York.
He and his only brother Robert were raised in a small community of Sundown NY in the Katskills by the Eimie (Amy) family.
Don quit school in the 8th grade to go to work to help support the family.
At the age of 17, Don lied about his age to join the army and in 1945 was soon on his way to Italy.
While stationed in Italy he met a beautiful young Italian girl named Lidia and fell in love. Soon they married and were on their way back to the USA starting a new family.
While living in Liberty, NY. they had their first of three sons Allan.
With a new baby at home Don was soon called up in the Army reserve and sent to Korea. After spending a year in Korea, Don always was thankful to the first Lady "Mrs Rosavelt" who he said was responsible for getting all the reserves out of Korea and was glad to be home with his family.
Don started working construction as a labor and then a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He was a long standing member of the Operating Engineers Union for many years. He was also a member of the teamsters and Laborers unions
Along came Don and Lidia's second son Deming and third son Mark.
In 1962 Don sold everything he couldn't fit into 2 cars and moved to California. He settled in Lancaster and bought his first house where he lived for 49years and spent the rest of his days.
Don worked on many great projects in his career such as New York Thruway, Niagara Falls Power Project, Lake Castaic dam and power plant, Los Angeles Intl. airport bi-level re-design. And Splash mountain at Disneyland.
He was a master Mechanic and welder and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix or repair.
Don enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to fish and go camping. He loved to go camping with his family, kids and grandkids. Some of his favorite times were driving. cross country in the summer to spend time in Arkansas fishing the White River with his nephew Rick..
He also always enjoyed a good poker game and many of you here will have those fond memories of the poker games spent with Don at his kitchen table.
Don was always willing to give someone a helping hand. Whether it was stopping on the freeway when he saw someone broke down to give them gas, water or a tow, or to give money to someone in need.
Don is survived by his brother Robert of Albany NY, Sons Allan, Deming and Mark of Lancaster, Ca. Grandchildren Nick, Justin, Tyler Kenny and Kaelah and 3 great grand children
