Carl was the son of Paul Karl Otto & Ima Maude (Kitchen) Haenke. He lived all of his life in Michigan. Carl had 7 siblings: Ernest (died at 3 months), Hazel Helene (md Joseph Arthur Underhill), Neva Bell (md Charles Edson Myers), Thelma Louise, Dora May (never married, died of TB), Irving Paul (died at 2 yrs)& Avis Elaine (md Vernon Royal Hasty).

Carl & his wife Florence Ethel Fike, daughter of Quinter Erwin & Mary Evalina (Hinkle) Fike were married 1 September 1929 in Muskegon, Michigan & were parents of two children: Richard Carl Haenke and Roma Arlene Haenke-Hardy, grandparents of 6 grandchildren & great grandparents to 15. He was much loved and left his mortal existence at only 66 and will ever be missed.
