The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Harry Mansfield (ASN: 280667), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company I, 126th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, A.E.F., at Romagne, France, 14 October 1918. His company having been held up by machine-gun nest, Sergeant Mansfield, with another soldier, crawled 200 yards ahead of his company and reduced the machine-gun nest, killing three of the enemy and capturing 18.
