Mary Bryte); and one sister, Nancy Burgin (m. Gene Ross). Tom was married to Mildred Florence Michum, a daughter of Jonas Sidney Mitchum and his second wife, Sally Emma Houser Mitchum, also of Lincoln Co., NC. Tom and Mildred were the parents of 5 children:
1. JoAnna Burgin (m. Billy Dean Harbison);
2. Thomas Jacob burgin, Jr. (m. Avis Ann Johnson);
3. Rodney Dale Burgin ( m. Joyce Moretz);
4. John Laban Burgin (m. Kay Craig); and
5. David Michum Burgin (m. "Sissy" Reynolds).
Tom, as well as all five of his children was raised in the historic Wilkie House at 324 West Main Street, Lincolnton, NC.
