Leonel Bengt Johnson, 74, of 1300 S. 1100 W., Provo, died Saturday at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo of a heart condition.
Mr. Johnson was born July 10, 1893 in Provo, to Peter and Hester Ann Robbins Johnson. He was married to Blance (Blanche) Beardall in Provo, Dec. 3, 1917.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the LDS Church. He received his education in the Provo City Schools. A farmer, he raised chickens and worked and managed farms throughout his life time. He was well known for his truck gardens.
Mr. Johnson served with the 145th Field Artillery in World War I. He was a member of the Provo Post of the American Legion. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his widow of Provo; one son and six daughters: Roland L. Johnson, Mrs. Don (Elfonda) Sargeant [Sargent], both of Provo; Mrs. Clifford (Hester) McFadzen, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Murray (Zelma) Kesler, Orem; Mrs. Marvin (Vera) Rule, Jackson, Calif.; Mrs. Edward (Vesta) Wade, Moab; Mrs. Wayne (Arlene) Park, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Leola West, who preceeded [preceded] him in death; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Stella Mooney, Provo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel. Friends may call Monday 6 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday prior to services.
Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Dean Mendenhall Post of the American Legion in Provo.
