Robert ALLEN, Formerly of Roaring Branch, Dies
Mr. Robert J. Allen, 82, formerly of Roaring Branch, died in the geriatric unit of the Muncy Valley Hospital early Saturday afternoon where he had been a medical patient for the past eight years. Mr. Allen was born in Elkland, PA on March 2, 1892, a son of Henry D. Allen and Frances Stegner. He was also a member of the Wheel Inn Club at Roaring Branch. Mr. and Mrs. Allen observed their 55th wedding anniversary in Sept. 1974. His survivors include his wife, the former Lottie A. Smith; one daughter, Mrs. James (Jean) Dow, Muncy; one son, Robert J. Allen, Jr. of Cayuta, N.Y.; four sisters, Mrs. Florence MacKay and Mrs. Drexel Bean of Wellsboro, Mrs. Lee Bellows of Knoxville, and Mrs. Webster Stover of Rye, NY; a brother, Thomas J. Allen of Wellsboro; nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at the Ralph T. Kleese Funeral Home, 40 N. Center St., Canton, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harry D. Krause, his pastor from the Roaring Branch United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Knoxville, PA.

Robert J. Allen, 82, of Canton died Saturday, February 1st, 1975 in the Geriatric Unit of Muncy Valley Hospital. He was a native of Elkland, and had been a patient at the Muncy hospital for the past eight years. He was born March 2, 1892, a son of Henry D. and Frances (Stegner) Allen. He was a retired merchant, having operated a general store in Roaring Branch for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War One, with the 314th Infantry, member of the Kellenbach-Mead Barracks of Williamsport and a member of Griffin Lodge No. 655, Roaring Branch and Elkland-Osceola Lodge No. 421. Survivors include his wife, Lottie Smith Allen; a daughter, Mrs. James Dow of Muncy; a son, Robert J. Allen of Cayuta, NY; four sisters, Mrs. Florence MacKay and Mrs. Drexel Bean of Wellsboro, Mrs. Lee Bellows of Knoxville, and Mrs. Webster Stover of Rye, NY; a brother, Thomas J. Allen of Wellsboro; nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends called at the Kleese Funeral Home in Canton and services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m., the Rev. Bruce Smay and the Rev. Harry D. Krause officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Knoxville.

Prominent Roaring Branch citizen Robert J. Allen, father of Mrs. James Dow, of Muncy, died Saturday, Feb. 1, after a long illness. Mr. Allen, 82, had been a guest at Muncy Valley Hospital and its geriatric unit for eight years following a stroke and his wife had resided in Muncy with the Dow's during that time. He operated a general store in Roaring Branch for 35 years prior to retirement. He was director in the Ralston bank; a World War I veteran; and a member of the IOOF, F&AM, Consistory, Wheel Inn and Roaring Branch Methodist church. He was married to the former Lottie Smith and they marked their 55th wedding anniversary last September. His wife survives with the daughter and a son, Robert, of Cayuga, NY; one brother and four sisters. Services were conducted in Canton on Tuesday, Feb. 4, by the Rev. R. Bruce Smay of Muncy's First United Methodist.
