Services for Amanda Buckels Jones of McComb were 2 p.m. Saturday at Catchings Funeral Home with burial in New Salem Cemetery in McCall Creek.
Mrs. Jones, 91, died March 2, 2006 at Silver Cross Nursing Home in Brookhaven. She was born in McCall Creek on Nov. 8, 1914 to Albert Buckels and Hatties Gerbish Buckels.
She was a former member and chairperson of the East McComb Activities Committee, a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association, and a registered nurse with the Mississippi Public Health Department and the Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson, La. She was a member of New Heights Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Richard Lee Jones; her brothers, Albert Buckels, Charles Buckels, Decatur Buckels, and Ray Buckels; and her sisters, Versie Sumrall, and Stella Jackson.
Survivors are her son, Richard "Dick" Jones and his wife, Sally, of Parker, Col.; her daughters, Anna Lambert and her husband, Chuck, of McComb, and Mary Sue David and her husband, Gregory, of Ridgway, Col.; her brother, Roy Buckels and his wife, Mary, of McCall Creek; her sister, Mabel Bone, of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
