The son of John and Eunice Harding Rickard, he was born on January 15, 1859 in Indiana County and had resided in this county his entire life.
He was a lifelong member of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Decker's Point, serving with honor and distinction his offices of elder and teacher, and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. Age compelled him a halt to his church activities the last few years and also in the Grange, of which he as an active member.
Two sons, Harvey and Ira, one daughter, Eva, and his wife, Julia Washington Rickard, preceded him in death.
He is survived by the following: one daughter, Mrs. William (Mae) Thomas of Washington Center; three sons, James E., Latrobe, Clay L., Niles, Ohio, and Earl A., Indiana; and three grandsons. Services in charge of Thomas Funeral Home, Marion Center, jon Thursday, Jan. 10, at 1:00 o'clock, with Rev. Leonard Pearson officiating. Burial in East Mahoning Cemetery.
