Mary Agnes Downs was born 4 February 1871 in Newbold, Derbyshire, England, United Kingdom. She was 6th of the 16/17 children born to John Downs (1843-1899) and Mary [Conway] Downs (1837-1922). Siblings; John Herbert Downs (1863–1939), Mary Ann [Downs] Turner (1864–1932), Sarah Ann [Downs] Howard (1866–1938), James Downs (1867–1867), Margarette Downs (1869–1869), Caroline [Downs] Askey (1870–1931), Henry Downs (1872–1952), Harriet Downs (1873–1873), William Downs (1874–1875), Edward Downs (1875–1949), Hannah [Downs] Nelson (1876–1951), Eliza Downs (1877–1878), Alfred Downs (1880–1965), Maria Downs (1881–1920), Alice Downs (1882–1882) and Olive Downs (1882–1882) *Alice and Olive may be the same person and not twins but a mis-transcribed record. She was married to Abraham Reeves (1869–1946) on 4 August 1890. They are the parents of eight children; Abraham Reeves (1892–1944), Agnes [Reeves] Fearn (1895–1944), Alfred D Reeves (1897–1977), Carrie [Reeves] Sime (1899–1973), John E Reeves (1901–?), Mary [Reeves] Waliser (1902–1996), Lilly Reeves (1906–1983) and Isabella Reeves (1910–1984).

Agnes sailed to America from Liverpool, England 27 Oct 1883 on board the ship "Wisconsin", in company with Mormon immigrants going to Utah.
They landed in New York City 7 Nov 1883, and from there by train to Utah, arriving in Ogden 14 Nov 1883.
