LaPreal was born November 14, 1927 at Kimball, Idaho to Lawrence Delos and Anna Luella Farnsworth Thornton. She was the youngest of twelve children. She spent her early years in Shelley, Basalt, and Mackay and then moved to Idaho Falls in the Lincoln area. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

On June 19,1947 she married John Isaac Walker in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 19, 1957. She worked for Chesbro Music Co. as a secretary for six years and as a payroll clerk for Bonneville School District for 20 years.

As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. She served as a temple worker and with her husband in the Arizona Tempe Mission from 1992 to 1993. She loved genealogy,photography, and camping.

She passed away in her home from cancer on September 1, 1996
