Obituary for Clara O. Leist Leist from the Circleville Union Herald of October 4, 1894:
"Sketch of Mrs. Sylvester Leist. Clara, wife of Sylvester Leist, and daughter of brother and sister Amos A. Leist, was born May 2nd, 1857, and died in Washington Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, September 11, 1894, aged 37 years, 4 months and 9 days. The deceased was an earnest and devoted follower of the Lord Jesus, as was proven by her regular attendance at the services of the sanctuary. Sister Leist was united in holy matrimony to Sylvester Leist, October 29th, 1874. This union was blessed with eight children, three of whom preceded her to the spirit world. She was converted about 24 years ago, and united with the Evangelical Association, of whish she remained a faithful and true member. Shortly before she died, she called her husband and children to her bedside, and bidding them farewell until the resurrection, she sang with a joyful heart, the hymn, 'I'm sweeping through the gates.' She leaves besides her husband, 5 children--4 boys and 1 girl, father, mother, sister, and a host of friends. Funeral services took place at the St. Paul Evangelical Church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. John Hobson."
