Anne Gorine Amundsdatter, the daughter of Amund Haagenson Borge and Anne Christensdatter was born on born 24 June 1811. She was christened on 14 July 1811. On 24 June 1811 in Skoger, Vestfold, Norway, Anne was married to Christoffer Anderson.
She was a remarkable woman who served not only her church, but many others as well. There were six children born to Christopher and Anne; Andrine, Anders, Andreas, Maren Annette, Christianna, Amelia. They were quite comfortable until the death of Christopher, having died at sea and was a ship carpenter, in 1860. After which, Anne and her surviving daughters were converted to the LDS faith.
Her son Andreas, grew to manhood and died at sea. Anne managed to save enough money for their passage, traveling in third class. They arrived at New Orleans, and from there took a steam boat up the Mississippi River to Keokuk, Iowa. Inconsiderate of "Mormons", if a child fell into the waters, they would not stop to rescue the child.
After some delay, they were outfitted with ox drawn wagons. By this time, Anne was already a semi-invalid; Maren walked the entire distance to Salt Lake. It is believed Anne and her daughters were assigned to Sanpete County, which was designated as Canadian Scandinavian settlements. After a lingering illness, Anne passed away 25 January 1874, and was laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery.
Parts of this bio was taken from the history of Maren Annette, written by Frederick Thorwald Christensen (son of Maren) and submitted to the DUP by Nettie Rhea Brady Adams-grand daughter of Maren)
NOTE: According to a monument in the Fairview Pioneer (lower) cemetery, not long after the town was established and there had been many burials in this cemetery, the north east corner was heavily flooded, washing many graves completely out of their burial positions. They were quickly reinterred in the same corner they came from. Unfortunately, there is no longer any markers on those graves that were affected. We believe Anne was among them, as her history, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the town records, as well as family records have her being buried here.
