Mrs. Ruby Keith Brown, Aged 80, Expires in City
Mrs. Ruby Keith Brown, 80, widow of Cortland E. Brown, died Saturday afternoon at 3 at her residence, 816 Leray street. She suffered a stroke three years ago, but had been confined to her bed only for about a week.
Mrs. Brown was born in the town of Brownville, Feb. 1, 1854, a daughter of the late Willard and Ruby Leavitt Keith. She was married to Cortland E. Brown in 1878 at the Keith home in the town of Brownville.
For many years Mr. and Mrs. Brown operated the farm in the town of Pamelia known as the Brown homestead. Mrs. Brown had resided in Watertown for about 20 years. Her husband died here March 7, 1920.
Mrs. Brown was a golden sheaf member of Watertown grange and a member of the All Souls Universalist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Henry Flick of Perch River and Mrs. Newton Schell of Theresa; two sons, Earl K. Brown of Brownville and Wallace K. Brown of Montclair, N.J.; a sister, Mrs. Cora Morrison of Parkerford, Pa., and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Tuesday afternoon at her home, Rev. Harry Westbrook Reed, D.D., pastor of All Souls Universalist church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Brownville Cemetery.
