Lawrence Brohammer, 87

Lawrence Frederick Brohammer, 87, of Coffeen died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at 12:05 p.m. in the Montgomery Nursing & Rehab Center in Taylor Springs.

Funeral Mass for Mr. Brohammer will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Rev. Father James L. Neuman and Rev. Father George Morelock will be the co-celebrants, and burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Coffeen with Military Rites by VFW Post #1306. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Bass-Patton-Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro; they are in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Brohammer was born on Sept. 9, 1924, in Coffeen to Fred and Amanda (Ernst) Brohammer. He married Thelma Theresa Jorn on April 7, 1951, at St. John'a Catholic Church in Coffeen; she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mary (husband David) Logsdon of Champaign and Linda (husband Steve) Shroedter of Hillsboro; one son, Ben (wife Karen) Brohammer, DVM, of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, and Ryan Logsdon, Christine and Adam Schroedter, and Alison, Alex, Abigail, and Audrey Brohammer; and four great-grandchildren, Adelyn Logsdon, Camden Williams, Ethan McLean, and Gwenyth Logsdon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one child in infancy; and brother, George Brohammer.

An Army infantry veteran who served in the Philippines during WWII, he farmed northeast of Coffeen and drove a school bus for the Hillsboro School District. He was a 1943 graduate of Hillsboro High.

Mr. Brohammer was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Coffeen and St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. He also belonged to the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and was a charter member of the Coffeen Lions Club.

Memorials should be directed to either St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Coffeen or to the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro.
