She was born to John and Eunice Patton August 18, 1926 in Wessington, SD. Della graduated from Wessington Springs High School in South Dakota in 1944 and went on to Seattle Pacific College in pre-nursing.
She then completed her BS in nursing at University of Washington in 1951. Later she achieved her M.S. in nursing at U.W.
Della spent her career in nursing from the hospital to teaching and finally as administrator of the nursing program at Seattle Pacific University.
She retired in 1981 after 30 years. Della was a long time member of Ambassadors Housing Hope Committee, board member of Warm Beach Senior Community Trustees, and active in the Warm Beach Free Methodist Church.
She served the Lord Jesus all of her life with love, care and strong faith.
Preceding her in death were her siblings, Newell Patton, Joseph Patton, Emma VanBockern and Ruth Arnott.
Surviving Della are her loving husband of almost 60 years, Arlo D. Tiede; children Jonathan (Margalit) Tiede of Seattle, WA; Marliece (Louie) Bate of McPherson, KS; brothers, Bob (Beth) Patton of Wessington Springs, Paul (Dorothy) Patton of Mitchell, SD, Lester Patton of Kenmore, WA; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Graveside service was Saturday, September 3, 2011, 10 AM at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Wessington Springs.
A memorial service will be held at the Warm Beach Free Methodist Church at a date and time to be determined. Memorial donations may be made to Seattle Pacific University School of Health Sciences or Housing Hope of Stanwood or Warm Beach Camp.
