Julia Cromer, of Charleston, widow of Dr. Philip Cromer, died December 1, 2011.

She was born July 16, 1937 in Bryson City, NC, and was the daughter of the late Carl Perry Thomas and late Eva Lollis.

Julia was a wonderful nurse at Swain County Hospital and when she moved to South Carolina she joined the Roper Hospital family as a nurse. Along with her career, Julia was a dedicated mother and wife who loved to cook, sew and read.

Mrs. Cromer is survived by her sons, Philip Earle Cromer (Ame'lie) of Columbia, SC, Charles Stewart Cromer of Atlanta GA, and Thomas Pitcher Cromer (Tracy) of Converse, TX; her brother Mr. Wayne Thomas (Barbara) of O'Brien, FL; sisters, Carlena Milligan (Sam) of Napa, CA and Joanna Gibby (Vaughn) of Lexington, NC; five grandchildren, Alan Russell Cromer of San Antonio, TX, Philip Jordan Cromer of Converse, TX, Dylan Cole Cromer of Converse, TX, Frances Barnwell Vanderhorst Cromer of Columbia, SC, and Helen Fripp Aimar Cromer Langford of Beaufort, SC.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by brothers Joseph Theodore "Ted" Thomas and Charles David Thomas.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
