William GRIFFIN, 1735-1800, Bristol Parish, Virginia, buried Griffin Baptist Church Cemetery, Pickens, Pickens County, South Carolina. At his death, his land was located on Middle Fork of 12 Mile Creek in now Pickens County, South Carolina.

William GRIFFIN, 1735-1800, was son of American Revolutionary War Veteran, William GRIFFIN, 1725-1791, late of Laurens District, South Carolina, and of his wife, Rachel SMITH, 1725-after 1791, late of Laurens District, South Carolina.

William GRIFFIN, 1735-1800 was listed as a Sergeant in the Chatham County Militia, North Carolina in Captain Isiah Hogan's Company in 1772. During the American Revolution he served in Gee's Company of the 2nd Regiment. During the Battle of Fort Sullivan, Charleston, SC. on 1 June 1779, he was taken prisoner of war. During 1781 he served in Lytles Company,10th Regiment, North Carolina.

Will of William GRIFFIN was probated Anderson County, South Carolina, Book A, P:3, Roll: 221, enumerates wife, Elizabeth GRIFFIN; and sons: John GRIFFIN, Henry GRIFFIN, Sergeant GRIFFIN, and [Oswald] Creswell GRIFFIN; daughters, Rebecca GRIFFIN BREAZEALE; Rosanna GRIFFIN BLOCKER; Hasky GRIFFIN BREAZEALE; Martha GRIFFIN, and Elizabeth GRIFFIN. Exors: Wife, Elizabeth, sons, Sergeant Griffin, Henry Griffin, my trusty friend Elnathan Davis, Sr. Witnesses: I.D.
