Barbara Lea Felton, 66, of Lubbock, Texas, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011. She was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Douglas, Wyo. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Ivester and Roslyn Fitzhugh.
As a 1963 graduate of Douglas High School, she was a decorated rodeo champion. She married her surviving husband, Jerry Lee Felton, on April 4, 1964. They moved to Lubbock, Texas, in July 1978, with six of seven children at that time. Barbara worked unconditionally and tirelessly as a devoted wife and loving mother of seven children and 23 grandchildren while at times being employed as a merchandiser for M&M Mars Candy Company, Hershey Candy Company and finally as a manager of Lubbock's Vitamins Plus. As the mother of four Eagle Scouts, she volunteered a significant amount of her time to the Boy Scouts of America.
She is survived by daughter, April Melody Chabries, and her children, Lauren, Joseph, Catherine and Christian; son, Jerry Lee Jr., wife Sandra, and children, Joshua, Austen, Madison, Cambelle and Luke; son, Jeffrey Alan, wife Esther, and children, Mikela, Brynna and Kaitlyn; son, Jonathan Lane, wife Brittany, and children, Kennedy, Reagan, Kimball, Abigail and Olivia; daughter, Alana Marie Patterson, husband Jerry Lee, and children, Audrey, Hunter and Alexis; son, Jason Andrew, wife Shaili, and children, Rohan and Reya; and daughter, Amber Michelle Dubois, husband Bryan, and son, Jaxon.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Salvation Army of Lubbock, c/o Major Morton, 1111 16th Street, Lubbock, TX 79401.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A graveside memorial with immediate family will be held on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Resthaven Memorial Cemetery.
