OBITUARY
Lee W. Johnson, a former resident of McDonald, Kan., died April 28, 1998 at the Porter Care Hospice in Littleton, Colo.

He was born Jan 10, 1918 near Levant, Kan., to John H. Johnson and Viola O. Burton Johnson. Lee was the youngest of four children and spent his early years working on farms and ranches in Rawlins County, as well as other area in Kansas and Wyoming.

On Dec. 21, 1936 he married Fern Ruth Headrick and to this union three children were born, Roberta Lee, Marilyn Louise and John William. In his early married years, he worked for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad. He later learned and mastered the carpentry trade and began his life-long career as a builder and finish carpenter.He built many homes, barns and silos in the McDonald area.

In 1955, he moved his family to Denver, Colo., continuing his work as a carpenter. He built the family home in Littleton in early 1959 and lived there for the remainder of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 40 years; one brother; one sister; his daughter, Roberta; and his great-grandson, Jason. Lee is survived by a sister, Leona Pool of Portland, Ore.; his daughter, Marilyn Birkby, and her husband, Dale, of Denver; his son, John Johnson of Littleton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held May 1, from Drinkwine Family Mortuaty Chapel in Littleton. Interment followed in the Littleton Cemetery.
