FATAL MISTAKE.--On Saturday last Mr. John Conness, whose home is near Nevada, son of Jefferson Conness, one of the old residents of Eagle, was coming home from Dwight on the train and arriving in Nevada, feeling a severe cramp went to a druggist and asked for something to relieve him. The druggist was going to give him some peppermint, but by some mistake got hold of a bottle containing laudanum instead and gave him a dose from that. He discovered his mistake almost immediately and hastened to call a physician but the deadly drug did its work in spite of all that could be done. He was buried on Monday at the Catholic Cemetery out at Eagle church, a long procession following him to his last resting place.
