Mary's attempts to teach first grandson, Josh, to say Granny, produced "Gruna", as she became known to Jessica, Kristen, Ashlee, Austin, Tyler, Cade, Cooper, Megan, Travis, Casey, Macy, Kaylee and great-grandsons, Logan and Kase.

Mary loved country music and dancing. She and her sister-in-law, Janice managed the Conway Twitty Texas Fan Club for several years. Mary was very proud to have known them all. She donated many items to the Ernest Tubb Record Store in Fort Worth.

Mary managed the Colleyville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for several years. She and a few others made the firemen's lives much easier during some very trying times.
