A graduate of Monongahela High School, she was an active member of the Victory Hill Social Center. It became a passion of hers to support veterans, especially the Vietnam Veterans of Fayette County. Due to her contributions throughout the years, she was proud to have received a United States flag that had been flown in Iraq, given to her by veterans of that war. For many years, she was also very involved with the Relay For Life Cancer Walk in Charleroi. For 25 years, until 2006, Cindy owned and worked as a designer at the former Petal Basket flower shop in Charleroi. Since closing the shop, she used her love of gardening to make her home a special place for her husband, and dog, Jake.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her loving husband, Andrew Gira,whom she married July 30, 2001, two daughters, a step-daughter, a sister, a grandson and a niece and nephew.
