Maj. Gen. Arthur Jacques "Jake" Poillon (USMC Ret.), 86, of Fairhope, died on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 after a life well-lived. He died in St Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham after a brief illness.
Gen. Poillon is survived by his wife, Virginia (Mouchett) Poillon of Fairhope; daughter Jeanette Poillon and daughter-in-law Bonnie Brescia of Sherborn, Mass.; stepchildren, Kyle Garrett of Atlanta, Ga., Rush Garrett and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Garrett, of Fairhope and Hollie Lacanski and son-in-law, Nick Lacanski, of Birmingham; his grandchildren, Rushton Garrett, Will Bos and his wife, Hope, Caroline Garrett, Taylor Bos, Grace Poillon Brescia and Sophia Poillon Brescia; his many nieces and nephews; and friends who shared his life in the Marine Corps, Maine, Florida and Alabama.
He was pre-deceased by his brother, Curtis Poillon (1945), son John Williams Poillon (1965), and first wife, Natalie (1981).
Services in memory of Gen. Poillon will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope on Friday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. Visitors reception from 1-1:45 p.m.
Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Donations in memory of Jake Poillon can be made to St. James Church in Fairhope or the Wounded Warriors Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). Semper Fidelis.

Funeral services were held at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope on Friday December 9, 2011 at 2 pm with Reverend Mark Wilson officiating. Eulogy was provided by Lieutenant General Ray Ayers USMC (Ret.) and The Honorable Joel F. Dubina, Chief Judge, United States Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit. Pallbearers were USMC. Honorary Pallbearers were USMC (Ret.). Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 3:00 PM. Arrangements by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Fairhope, AL.
