MRS. ANNA J. N. BERG.

PROVO, Nov. 26 -- Anna J. Nielsen Berg of this city, widow of the late O. H. Berg, died here yesterday following a paralytic stroke she suffered after having been taken to the Provo General hospital for treatment for burns she sustained when her clothing caught on fire at the home of her son, Wyman, Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Berg was born In Odense*, Denmark, Sept. 14, 1847. She came to Utah in 1865, walking across the plains with Captain Taylor's handcart company. She came directly to Provo and the following year O. H. Berg came, and they were married here Dec. 16, 1866. They had previously met in Denmark when Mr. Berg was doing missionary work.

Like her husband, Mrs. Berg was an active worker in the Church, having devoted much of her time in the activities of the Relief societies [sic] of the Utah state. She was widely known and highly respected in this community.

Mrs. Berg is survived by seven children, six daughters and one son. They are, Mrs. George A. Nuttall of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Enoch Jorgensen of Sandy; Mrs. W. W. Beckstead of American Falls, Ida.; Mrs. James Prestwich of Moroni; Mrs. Walter Jenkins of Provo; Mrs. Oscar E. Groshell of Wilmington, Del.; and Wyman Berg of this city. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. The brothers and sisters are, N. J. and J. C. Nielsen of Provo, P. A. Nielsen of Salt Lake, Mrs. Zina Jepperson and Mrs. Alfreda Williams of Provo.

Funeral services will be held at the Bonneville Ward Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 12:30 p.m. Friends may view the body at the home of her son, Wyman Berg, 420 East Third South, from 10:20 a.m. to noon on the day of the funeral. [See obituary clipping posted to this memorial under photos tab].
