Born in the hamlet of Polpeor on the Lelant downs, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Trewhella) Glasson. Christened in the Lelant parish church on 28 April 1816. On 6 October 1834, she married her third cousin (once removed), John Hampton. Mother of John (d.y.), Eliza, Richard Hawes, John, Jane, Joseph Glasson, Catherine (d.y.) and Robert Hampton, Ann Quick Scadden and Elizabeth Catherine Trevenen. Eliza outlived her husband for many years and in 1871 was listed in the census as 'maintained by her children abroad'. She died in Upper Lelant Town and was buried 31 December 1891.
