For many years he was active in the Higganum area as a self-employed plumbing contractor. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy, destroyer escort service in the North Atlantic.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Folger of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Christine E. Spencer (Brackbill) of Rocky Hill; a sister, Mrs. Rodney (Virginia) McKeen of Portland; also three grandchildren, a nephew and a niece. Funeral services were held at the Portland Memorial Funeral Home, Main Street, Portland, with the Rev. David E. Cote of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
