Frances Smith
Graveside funeral was Saturday, March 23, for Mrs. Frances Davis Smith, 83, of 215 North Oak Street, widow of Arthur Smith, who died Thursday in the Stephens County Hospital.
The daughter of the late Julius Glenn and Essie Acree Davis, she was born Nov. 10, 1907, in Stephens County, where she had lived most of her life. She was a graduate of Toccoa High School and Draughns Business College.
Mrs. Smith was employed with the law firm of Bond & McClure as a legal secretary and later with Coats & Clark where she was supervisor of the color matching department retiring after 24 years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Toccoa and was twice married, first to Julian Stalnaker who died in 1947, and second to Arthur Smith who died in 1974.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Y. Davis of Toccoa; three stepchildren, Jack Smith of Toccoa, Mrs. Cecil (Emily) Brady of Greenville, S.C., and Billy Smith of Chenee, S.C.; a niece, Mrs. Gary (Fran) Jarrett; two nephews, Reid Davis and Reese Davis; nine step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Frank Leeper and the Rev. Claude Smithmier officiating.
Acree-Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
