DEATH OF I. R. LANMAN
Isaac R. Lanman died at his home in this city last Friday, Dec. 15, at 8 a.m., at the age of 57 years, ten months and one day. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis, from which the deceased had suffered several strokes in the past, and came to him while seated in his chair awaiting breakfast. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, under the auspices of Larned Lodge No. 192 A. O. U. W., Rev. B. E. Parker officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the Larned cemetery.
The deceased was born in Indiana Feb. 14, 1848, and moved to Illinois as a boy. Here he was married to Mary A. Marymee at the home of her parents in Coles county Nov. 10, 1870. Six children were born to this union, five of whom are living as follows: J. F. Lanman, of Hastings, Nebraska; Mrs. Nellie Booth, of Bingham, Utah; Mrs. Ida Wolfe,, of LaCrosse, Kans., and Edward and John Lanman of this city. The family first located in Rush county, Kans., Feb. 19, 1876, on a claim, and later on moved to Larned, where they have lived for over twenty years.
"Ike" Lanman was an honest, hard-working man, well liked by everybody, and exceptionally strong and robust until he suffered a stroke of paralysis a number of years ago, which deprived him of the power of speech and wasted him physically until he was almost helpless. Everything possible was done to relieve him but without avail, and his death has been a foregone conclusion for some time. His family have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in their untimely affliction.
