John was a farmer, lived, and died on the same farm that he was born, near Mt. Vernon on Pleasant Vally Rd. in Knox Co. Ohio. He married Belinda Eleanor Allen on the 28th of October, 1868 and they had 3 children: Charlie Edgar 1869, George A. 1877 and Cora E. 1879 Steinmetz. TJD2012

The Republican - Mount Vernon, Ohio, Wednesday, 19 July, 1933

.. John B. Steinmetz, 90, died yesterday afternoon at the home on the Pleasant Vally road where he had lived during his entire life. Death followed an extended illness.
.. Mr. Steinmetz was a member of the Gay St. M.E. church and for 50 years had been a member of Clinton Grange.
.. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cora E. Graham; a son, G.A.A. Steinmetz; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
.. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the home, the Rev. Alex Hawke officiating. Burial will be in Mound View cemetery.
