Funeral service for Mr. James W. "John" Agee age 78 of Shelbyville will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday Nov. 28, 2011 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brothers Tom Henry, Jimmy Gray & Jay Dearing officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Willow Mount Cemetery.

Mr. Agee passed suddenly Saturday morning Nov. 26, 2011 at the Heritage Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A native of Rutherford County he was the son of the late Arthur B. Agee & Tennie Lee Crutchfield Agee and was preceded by brothers, Frank, Harry & L.D. Agee and sister Mary Ruth Sudberry. Mr. Agee retired from Thomas Brothers Ham Co. in Ashville, NC and more recently worked for the Bedford County Solid Waste as a convenience center attendant.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors; his wife of 37 years, Judy Smotherman Agee, son Mark (Mary Ann) Agee of Murfreesboro, Step-daughter Lisa (Harvey) Martin of Shelbyville, Step-son Ryan Parsons of Shelbyville, Sister Lucy Arnold of Readyville, TN, & Virginia Irvin of Hermitage, TN, Step-grandchildren, Chase & Hannah Martin, Haustin & Hamilton Parsons.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church building Fund.
