Janice Sue Lankford 50, of Seneca, Mo. passed away Sunday November 27, 2011 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas, after a short illness.

Born August 23, 1951 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Ray Irving Smith and Bertha Irene Wells Smith. A homemaker and mother, she later drove school buses for Carl Junction. She also drove for O.A.T.S., Seneca School District and most recently was a cook for Seneca schools.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Lankford of the home A SON, Terry Howerton of Chicago Ill.two granddaughters, Victoria (Gabbie) and Christian' a stepson, Tyler E. Lankford of Seneca. a sister, Marilyn Smith of Carterville' a brother, Jack Smith and wife Pam of Carthage' a sister, Marilyn Sparlin of Joplin, several nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilliary Howerton and a half sister, Margie Rupinsky.

Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Saturday at Journey Church, located at 4th and McKinley Ave. in Joplin. Pastor Matt Derfelt and Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. Interment will follow at Swars Prairie Methodist Cemetery South odf Seneca. Pallbearers will be Gerry Smith, Adam Sparlin, Don Sparlin, Niek Lankford and Greg Lankford, Joey Lankford will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 7'30-8;30 p.m. Friday.


Memorals contributions may be made to the Children's Fund at Journey Church in care of Parker Mortuary.
