ALBERT WELLER, son of Daniel and Susanna (Nuske) Weller, was born on the family farm near New Leipzig on November 8, 1912. He grew up on the family farm and attended area schools. He worked at the Corner Garage before serving in the Army from July 15, 1942 through December 27, 1945. He was honorably discharged as a Technical Sgt. 3rd Grade.
He worked at various jobs throughout his life, including owning and operating a garage with his brother, Art. In 1947 he married Betty Vallender at New Leipzig. Together they had five children.
Albert was active in the New Leipzig Fire Department and the American Legion. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council, and as Sunday School teacher and treasurer. He was also a former Mayor of New Leipzig.
Albert died quietly while sitting in his chair at his home on Monday evening, August 23, 1993, at the age of 80 years, nine months and 16 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers, and four siblings in infancy.
He is survived by his wife Betty of New Leipzig; two daughters and sons-in-law: Carol & Jerry Roeh-rich of New Leipzig and Nancy & Curtis DeGree of Bismarck; three sons and one daughter-in-law: David & Debra Weller of Bismarck, Rick & Melody Weller of Morgan Hill, California, and James Weller of Center; eight grandchildren: Ryan & Michael Roehrich, Andrea & Jeremy Weller, Holly, Jena, & Brant Weller, and Lucas DeGree.
