Although his Tombstone read Thomas C. Hunt, he lived his life as T. Cleland
Hunt. He was born on February 14, 1908 in the Brandon Mill Village of Greenville
County, SC. He moved with his family to Walhalla, SC in his youth. He attended
Walhalla High School where he was active on the Football, Basketball and
Baseball teams. He played in the School Orchestra and worked on the Memories
Yearbook. He Graduated in 1927.

In 1928 he entered the all-male military school, Clemson Agricultural College
(Clemson University), where he studied Mechanical Engineering, graduating in
1932 with a BS degree.

He served in the Army during WWII as a Troop Transport Commander. His ships
were the USAT Perida and the USAT Sea Barb. He was awarded 4 bronze stars and
Campaign medals for his service. He attained the rank of Lt. Col., in 1946. He
continued in the reserves and retired from the Army in May of 1968.

Clee also worked as the plant Engineer for the Deering Miliken's Laurens Mill
from 1958 until his retirement March 1, 1973.

Thomas Cleland Hunt passed away August 2, 1986.


He was the Father of Norma Jean Hunt, b. December 11, 1932, D. February 4, 1994
in Shreveport, LA. Since she has no burial her information is here with her
father.
