Mrs. M. W. Denny, 85, Succumbs At Johnston
Johnston, July 7 — (Special) — Mrs. Mattie Walker Denny, 85, died early this morning after an extended illness.
She was the daughter of Dr. Virgil Homer Walker and Antoinette Walker of Longstreet, Ga., and was married to T. R .Denny in 1892.
She served for a number of years as secretary of tho W.C.T.U. and for 17 years as state secretary of the W.C.T.U.
She is survived by three daughters, Miss Antoinette Denny of Johnston, Mrs. L. D. Reese of Winston-Salem, N. C., and Mrs. W. J. McGarity of Columbia; one son, Dr. C. W. Denny of Savannah, Ga., and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Murry of Lake Wales, Fla. and Mrs. Fannie Dennard of Pine View, Ga.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Thursday morning from the Johnston Baptist church by the Rev. T. F. Reid, assisted by the Rev. V. M. Forrester.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive cemetery.
Deacons of the Johnston Baptist church will serve as pallbearers.
