Mary was born on September 8th, 1921, in Burnside, Kentucky, daughter of the late Thomas Frederic "Fred" and Anna V. Colyer Barnes. She was a Burnside High School graduate. She married James W. Lloyd in Jamestown, Kentucky on July 7th, 1941. They shared 73 years of marriage together. Mary was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church on Bourne Avenue, in Somerset. She loved quilting, crocheting and knitting. Mary loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary was survived by one son, James P. (and Lois) Lloyd; two daughters, Janice Lloyd and Gail Lloyd; three grandchildren, Bruce (and Lauren) Lloyd, Kevin (and Kelly) Lloyd, and Robin Brown; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Lloyd, Carly Lloyd, and Bailey Brown; two nieces, Sandra Foster and Alice Fitzgerald; two nephews, Eddie (and Linda) Barnes and Tom (and Loretta) Foster; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Barnes, who departed this life on February 23rd, 1954 and Anna Barnes, who departed this life on May 7th, 1960; her husband, James Lloyd, who departed this life on November 12th, 2013; one brother, Paul Barnes; one sister, Ruth Foster; and one niece, Patsy Walker.
Visitations were held on Saturday, December 20th, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. James Mills officiating.
Interment followed in the Burnside Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
