Eugene Allanson Dies In Chicago

Eugene P. Allanson, second son of Edward G. Allanson and Mary Davis Allanson was born in Anita, Mar. 9, 1897 and passed away at about six p.m., April 8, 1974 in Westside Veterans Hospital, Chicago. He had been in poor health for several years.
Mr. Allanson attended the Anita Public Schools, farmed south of Anita, worked in a bank in Chicago, was custodian at the University of Chicago. He also enlisted in the Navy in World War I and World War II. He was a Medical Corpsman and a Pharmacist's Mate. Eugene also studied music and was a writer of poetry. He was a member of the Eugene Field Society of Poetry. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Eugene was united to Emily Kowalski of Chicago and they had two children: Paul Allanson of the U.S. Navy and Juanita Allanson attending Northern Illinois University.
Funeral services were held in Chicago at the Sterner Funeral Home, Apr. 11, Rev. John S. Harder officiating. The subject of the text was taken from the 23rd Psalm.
Mr. Allanson is survived by his wife Emily, a son, Paul and daughter Juanita and also three sisters; Mrs. Harry Cogswell of Chicago, Mildred Allanson of Chicago and Mrs. Leland Clifford of Farmington, Mich.
Three brothers preceded him in death: George Allanson of Minneapolis, Minn., Howard Allanson of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Edward Allanson of Houston, Tex.
