Don Bowman Day was born on May 5th 1926 in Downey, Idaho to parents, Wesley & Lela Bowman Day. He died on Sunday Nov. 27th 2011 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 85 years. He was a longtime resident of Hermiston. Don worked as a Pipe Fitter for Union Pacific Railroad. Don was a veteran of the US Army during World War Two. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the VFW Post #4750, Squareknots, Watermelon Good Sams Club.
His hobbies include whittling, hunting, & camping. He married Thelma Barnett on August 1, 1946 in Tacoma, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Day in 2002; son, Bobby Day, & grandson, Chad Day.
Don is survived by his son, Billy Day of Hermiston; daughters, Judy Tobin of Hermiston, & Peggy Brabham of Tualatin, OR. Brother, Lyle Day of Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Ruby Willbanks of Arkansas.
14 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Saturday December 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church at 775 W. Highland Ave. in Hermiston.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.
