Marriage - On July 1st, 1891 in Charlotte County, New Brunswick, William Robert Gillespie, of St. David, New Brunswick, born in St. David, New Brunswick, bachelor, a laborer, Presbyterian, the son of Robert and Jean Gillespie, married Gertrude Simpson, of Dunbarton, New Brunswick, born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, spinster, Baptist, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Simpson. The marriage was performed by W.C. Gincher, of St. Stephen, New Brunswick and was witnessed by George Hill of St. Stephen and Jessie G. Toal, of Dunbarton.
Obituary - Mrs. Gertrude Gillespie, wife of William Gillespie, died at her home on Chapel Avenue yesterday afternoon after a long illness, being 74 years old. Service is to be held in the Pettit Funeral Home, 326 East Main Street, tomorrow at 2 p.m., the Rev. Hanington Wilson of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating, with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Gillespie, whose maiden name was Simpson, was born in Canada, and lived for some time in Virginia before coming to Patchogue 14 years ago. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Charles Gillespie in the Navy; Robert Gillespie in the Army; and Roy Gillespie of Portland, Maine; and six daughters, Miss Alice Gillespie of West Sayville, Mrs. Clyde Jordan of Portland, Maine, Mrs. Alfred Tucker of West Sayville, Mrs. John Rogers, Mrs. Frank Wenzel and Miss Sallie Gillespie, all of Patchogue, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, also a sister, Mrs. Anna Stimpson of Portsmouth, Virginia.
