Born October 18, 1939, in Walnut Ridge, AR., son of Clay and Almita Blackwell Ables.
He was a machinist in the FMC Aerospace Industry in Jonesboro and of the Baptist belief.
He was united in marriage to Patsy Poindexter May 30, 1958 who preceded him in death in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frances Andrews. He loved carpentry, gardening, traveling, boating and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters: Karen Sue Timms of Garland, Texas, and Debra Lynn Perkins and husband Calvin of Fayetteville, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Rachel Perkins Rieger of Hermitage, Tenn., Patricia Ann Timms of Sherman, Texas, and Sarah Paige Perkins of Fayetteville; a sister, Mildred Hackworth of Rockford, Ill.; a friend, Doug Chennell; several nieces and nephews.
Services were in Bryan Funeral Chapel at Hoxie. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.
