Dennis F. Buschkamp, son of Gerhard and Louise (Hendricks) Buschkamp, was born June 5, 1929, at Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Dennis died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Dennis attended country schools, and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1947. On October 1, 1953, Dennis was married to Lorraine Adams at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Bloomfield, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with three children, Debra, Paula, and Mark.
Dennis lived at Bloomfield his entire life, except for serving in the Army in 1952 and 1953. He spent one year stationed in Korea, and attained the rank of Sergeant in the 65th Infantry Regiment before his honorable discharge. Dennis farmed his entire life, sold insurance for over 40 years, served on the Northern Nebraska Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors, worked as a security guard for 17 years at Waldbaum's, and served nine years on the local Farmer's Co-op Board of Directors. He was a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau Board for several years, and was elected president for three years. Dennis served on the local Agricultural Stabilization Committee and was a member of the NRD Board. He was an active member of V.F.W. and the American Legion in Bloomfield. Dennis served as Legion Post Adjutant for four years, and as commander for over 19 years.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine; daughters, Debra (Martin) Sudbeck and Paula Buschkamp; son, Mark (Alice) Buschkamp; three grandchildren; brother, Vernon Buschkamp of Carling, Iowa; and sister, Fern Schaefer of Yankton, South Dakota.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Louise; brother, Darrell Buschkamp; sisters, Alice Bruck and Velma Bruck; and twin brother, Donald Buschkamp.
Burial was in the Bloomfield City Cemetery, Bloomfield, NE.
