Harold was born on the farm his grandparents, Simeon and Mary Jane Aiken homesteaded in 1871 in Lincoln Twp, Montgomery County, Iowa. He married Blanche Edna Burdick on April 30, 1930 in Topeka, KS. He died in the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was a farmer in Lincoln Twp. He and his wife moved into Red Oak, IA in 1960.

He was an elder, and church treasurer at Center Ridge Presbyterian Church until 1986 when he moved into the Garden View Care Center.

He was survived by his daughter, Mrs. Donald (Patricia) Wetterlind, who lives on the old Aiken homestead, immediately south of the Center Ridge cemetery; four grandchildren: Mrs. Denise Bisbee of Nodaway, IA, Mrs. Barbara Drogo of Olathe, KS, Douglas and Michael Wetterlind, both of rural Red Oak; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ione Aiken of Red Oak.
