Former Officer Robert J. Fairchild, DSN 2958, received his commission on 02/03/1958 and entered the academy with Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Officer Fairchild graduated from the academy in April of 1958 and was assigned the the 1St District starting on 04/27/1958. Officer Fairchild resigned his commission on 09/01/1958 to seek gainful employment in the private sector. No department photos could be located on this officer.
Officer Fairchild was a veteran of the Korean War and served from 05/1949 to 08/1952, and achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Beloved husband of Mary (nee Batchelor) Fairchild; and the late Mrs. Bessie (nee Fox) Fairchild; loving father of Helen (Mark) Burghardt, Joyce (Chris) Hogan, Karen (Michael) Capps, Robert (Cheryl) and Dennis Fairchild; dear grandfather of Paul, Kevin, Adam, Laura, Melissa and Alan; dear great grandfather of 5; dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Mr. Fairchild was the former exalted ruler of the Crestwood Elks Lodge and member of the Affton Elks Lodge.
